Principal/ Assistant Principal
Mrs. Colangelo
Dear Sonoran Foothills Bobcat Community,
It continues to be a privilege and a joy to serve as the principal of Sonoran Foothills School. Each day, I feel immense gratitude to lead such a dynamic and dedicated community, known for its commitment to academic excellence, whole-child development, and a culture of kindness and high expectations.
Professionally, I bring experience from the classroom and multiple leadership roles. I’ve taught kindergarten through second grade and served as an instructional coach, dean of students, and assistant principal prior to becoming principal. I’ve had the opportunity to work in both high-socioeconomic and Title I school settings, all high-performing, and have proudly been part of the Deer Valley Unified School District for the past several years. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Arizona and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.
I am deeply committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe school environment where all students are known, challenged, and supported. At Sonoran Foothills, we focus on both academic rigor and social-emotional growth—ensuring that every child has the tools and opportunities to thrive. Our TRACKS values: Trustworthy, Respectful, Accountable, Creative, Kind, and Safe guide our shared commitment to creating a caring, respectful, and collaborative school culture.
Personally, I am supported by my wonderful husband, David, and our two amazing children, Jack and Emma. They are my inspiration and remind me daily of the importance of joyful learning, connection, and community.
As a leader, I believe in the power of strong relationships, open communication, and continuous learning. I am proud to work alongside an incredible team of educators and staff, and I value the partnerships we have with our families and community. Together, we will continue to build on the success of Sonoran Foothills and ensure that all students are equipped to lead, learn, and grow—now and into the future.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to another fantastic year together.
Warmly,
Samantha Colangelo, M.Ed.

Mrs. Harris
Returning to the Bobcat team is a true privilege for the new year! Sonoran Foothills is a vibrant, student-centered school community where academic excellence and meaningful relationships are at the heart of everything we do. It is an honor to be once again a part of a dedicated staff that puts students first in every decision and action.
My educational preparation includes a bachelor’s degree in English Education from Northern Arizona University and a master’s in educational leadership from California State University, Fullerton. Professional experience spans several states and includes teaching high school English, Journalism, and Drama in California, Colorado, and Arizona. Before entering school administration, service as the DVUSD ELA Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Specialist helped shape a strong foundation in instructional leadership.
Student growth—both academic and social-emotional—remains the central focus of all work. Supporting students as they build friendships, develop resilience, and discover their passions is essential in creating a school environment where all learners thrive. Every student deserves to feel connected, challenged, and empowered, and every effort is made to help foster that environment in partnership with staff and families.
Beyond professional life, family is a core source of joy and pride. A 26-year marriage to husband Dan has brought the blessing of three wonderful children. Audrey recently graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Architectural Studies and Project Management. Jayne is entering her second year at ASU as a Barrett Honors College student majoring in Business Communication and Marketing. Chase, the youngest, is enjoying his senior year of high school as the choreographer of his school's award-winning Show choir. Completing the family is Aggie, a spirited 3-year-old Labradoodle who keeps everyone smiling.
As the 2025–2026 school year unfolds, ongoing collaboration with students, staff, and families will ensure Sonoran Foothills continues to be a place where excellence and belonging go hand in hand. Communication is always welcome—whether to share a success, navigate a challenge, or simply connect. Here’s to an incredible year ahead for our entire community.
Elizabeth Harris, M.Ed
