Ms. Kadotani - Science

Hi! My name is Ms. Kadotani. I graduated summa cum laude from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University. I have one daughter who is pursuing her PhD in Social Psychology at ASU (yay science!). I started my teaching career in the Cave Creek USD, then switched to the Deer Valley USD. I taught gifted science for two years in the Renaissance program at Highland Lakes School, and since 2015, I have been teaching 7th grade science at Sonoran Foothills. I am so grateful to be a part of the amazing 7th grade team and all staff at Sonoran Foothills. My mission is to help students apply Critical Thinking skills, incorporate the Science and Engineering Practices and Scientific Inquiry into their everyday lives through relevant, relatable, and fun learning experiences.

Together We Achieve!

We are beginning our Non-Contact Forces unit. The students are learning about Air Resistance, Gravity and Magnetism. The students will be building electromagnets. We will need 32 Duracell AA batteries and copper wire which can be found on my Amazon Wishlist.

Science Grades Reminders

Students will have a District Assessment over the Physics Unit before October 24th. Actual date is dependent on how quickly they move through the content.

Please remember:

ALL assignments are on Canvas.

Students should visit Canvas for comments left on their assignments before emailing with any questions.

Remember, grading procedures are included in all our Curriculum Info Videos on our 7th Grade Curriculum website page.

Retake Requirements:

No Missing Coursework related to the Assessment content.
75% Average on any assigned Boom Card decks
Complete the Science Retake Study Form
Be able to attend confirmed retake date, usually a Friday morning at 7:45
Retake will be a different test but over the same content.

Boom Cards

Boom Cards are a resource I purchase for the students to review content where I am able to track their usage and proficiency.
While I understand it is fast and easy for the students, it is NOT the primary resource to use when studying.

ISN - Interactive Science Notebook

This is the main source for review and studying.
It is important that the students' ISNs are kept organized and updated with all handouts and notes.

Canvas

Please remember, ALL science class content is always available on Canvas. If a student is absent, they should check Canvas before emailing me. Even if the assignment is not going to be competed in Canvas, a description of all daily assignments are always posted in Canvas.
